…this small, fragile toy is just not worht the $30. No instruction comes with the toy. Some details shown on the box are missing. It never stretches from 4″ to 6″ as the descroption in this site says (at most 5″). …

RedAlert is a nice diaclone of Sideswipe ,but with a different paint job, siren and fire department stickers on the hood and doors. Red is the future Lamborific fire chief car of the future. This baby spots fire 300 mph. Alot faster than a bloodhound! Alert saying, “Yet they gave Inferno my job!” “Whose running this place Swindle?” Ironhide saying, “Swindle is out of his cotton pickin’ head!” I think it would be insane if a scalper like Swindle sells every limited RedAlert from Toysrus on ebay for 3 times as much!! Good thing I got mine quick! Meaning don’t wait too long before ol’ Swindle get yours! Act right now, RedAlert RedAlert scalper Swindle on the loose!!!!

Red Alert was originally released in 1985, and was repainted from the 1984 Sideswipe toy. Red Alert has become a fan favorite in the Transformers collecting community, because he was always so darned paranoid in the cartoons.

I remember Sideswipe fondly, but I was somewhat less impressed with Red Alert. The toy seems uncomfortably tight–it’s somewhat difficult to transform. I’m always afraid I’m going to snap off his windshield whenever I telescope his legs.

On top of that, my Red Alert didn’t come with any decals. Nice job, quality control.

Great to sit on your shelf and look pretty, great to impress your friends with, but to play with? No.

If you’re a collector, get one. If you’re a casual Transformers fan, wait for the Sideswipe re-issue.

I bought this figure last year when it first came out in s’pore. there was Takara Sideswipe too, but i chose Red Alert coz it’s cheaper and i dig the white paint job on the lambor mode instead of the usual red.
robot mode is nice and you can also display it as car mode together with the rest of the matchbox/hot wheels toys. w/o the autobot insignia, no one will notice the difference. too bad the pring is removed from the shoulder launcher. thus, my 4 stars rating………

WOW I LOVE THIS TOY. EVEN THOUGH HE WAS KINDA AGGREVATING IN THE ORIGINAL CARTOON SERIES HE IS STILL A GREAT TOY THEN AND NOW. EVEN THOUGH HOW MANY FIRE CHIEFS CARS LOOK LIKE HIM ONLY IN TRANSFORMER LORE . RED ALERT IS THE CHIEF OF SECURITY FOR THE AUTOBOTS. COOL A MUST HAVE FOR ANY TRANSFORMER FAN COLLECTOR OR JUST TO OWN. KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK TAKARA AND HASBRO.
