Ironhide was such a disappointment when I got him as a kid
These are good toys … if anything the problem fans have with them is the liberty Sunbow took with the animation models.
They’re diaclone moulds meant to be power suits for the mini drivers, it’s unfair to judge them as anything other. The detailing is fantastic, they feature a fun and complex transformation and the play value and uniqueness of being a two part combiner elevates Ratchet/Ironhide to the status of being great little toys.
i was gutted when I got Ironhide for christmas only to discover he transformed into that piece of crap. The Henkei / Universe versions of these characters are perfect as far I’m concerned – backpack be damned.
I will agree though, even by G1 standards, these were some of the weakest molds.
@medabotsoundwave I never said you couldn’t. All I did was give my opinion of the figures. Worry less about expression of your opinion, worry more about why you think anyone having a differing opinion over some transformers toys is so important to you.

Nice last 3 video, but lay off on Armada Sideswipe will u? at least it came with a………shall i say ,unique yet odd looking counterpart. And it have a decent alt mode. Not much on the body.

I agree with starscream ironhide and ratchet were horrible. No, the fact that they came from the 80s does not excuse it. In that era we had some great transformers that looked good in both robot and vehicle mode. The toy doesnt have a head for christs sake. Starscream is 110% in the right here.
Really? I mean they’re G1. Can’t we forgive and forget their flaws? I personally like their uniqueness, and though show accuracy would be nice and they’re low on my ‘must buy” I hardly consider them crap. Well, to each their own, have a good day mate.
I actually like these toys. They have a unique robot mode. Actually Ratchet’s Repair bay appeared once. It’s not the toy’s fault. They were originally controlled mecha.

Yeah, they have to be the two Transformers the animated series took the most liberties with as far as their look.

@1313owner Actually Diaclone was the toyline, TAKARA was still the manufacturer. Hasbro then bought the toys from TAKARA, made Transformers, then sold the name Transformers back to Takara for more money.

@medabotsoundwave Well, they were originally just powered armor type suits for tiny little figures(micromen). It’s the same reason things like the insecticons have a little cockpit that would fit a tiny driver.
Had Hasbro/Takara included the micromen figures, it would have been ok. But other than that, even if they’re g1, they were garbage on their own as “transformers”.

I have to disagree, only because its a G1 figure. It was hasbro/takara’s first go, so you gotta give them credit.
