Remember Transformers? If yes then you doubtless grew up with them. If you remember the Transformers cartoon I am prepared to bet you also remember the Transformer Toys and may have toys collection! The line of Transformers Toys is a long one stretching back before many of the newer generation were even born - back in the 1980's up to the present.Giant hunks of plastic with hardly any joint movement are basically what these things were. Around Xmas time they were the toys every young boy had to have.

The manufacturers used die cast construction on the toys, they started to get more complex. Essentially die cast construction is liquid poured into a mold and permitted to cool. The parts produced from this process are terribly sturdy, though somewhat limited in movement. As plastic came to replace metal, die cast construction faded as the preferred system of make. New methods authorized for stronger plastics to be made. New joint types also authorized complete range of movement.

Being able to pose a transforming robot in several different positions was a true joy for many youngsters. When the series Beast Wars Transformers was aired, the standard of the figures was a big jump forward from what we already were used to. They used ball and socket joints like our own, and could be moved in just about any direction.

The newest toys to catch our attention though are the ones from the live action pictures. most especially from the Transformers 2 Revenge of the Fallen movie. With finer detail and more complicated transformations they are actually a site to behold. Many of us don't abuse our action figures in the 1st place. But a little fall is sure to occur finally ; luckily they're durable.
